The Joint Action Front (JAF) held
solidarity action in support of the Lagos doctors at the National
Industrial
Court (NIC) on Wednesday May 16, 2012. The doctors had gone to court to
challenge the irresponsible and draconian action of the Lagos state
government.
788 doctors were callously and illegally sacked for embarking on
legitimate strike
to press home the demand for the implementation of CONMESS, a unified
salary
structure for medical doctors in the country. The case has been
adjourned to Tuesday
May 22, 2012. Also present were unemployed youths and women bused to the
court
by Fashola government to protest against the doctors. The rented crowd,
most of whom could not articulate why they were protesting, were
overwhelmed
and deflated by the combined force of JAF members and doctors, and
thereby left the court in
shame
